Techno Stamper sketch challenge

Well finally I got this challenge done also.http://technostamper.blogspot.com/ I missed doing the challenges last week. Just so much going on and seems like we spent most of it in a car. I've been trying all day to follow this sketch but everything I started ended up being something else. Then I saw the saying about the leaves falling. I had stamped it last night. I just bought this yesterday at Scrap and Stamp Art Studio along with an Encore Teal Metallic Pad. I wanted to see what the ink looked like and that stamp was the one sitting there. So tried it out. Well I know I should be making summery cards but I love coloring leaves and making fall cards. I guess that comes from growing up in the north. We would gather the leaves and press them in books or between 2 pieces of waxed paper. Love the fall colors. Of course living in Florida I do get to see the fall leaves change but it's not until around Feb. Robin can just not get used to that but anyways getting back to the card. I layered a leaf print paper on a beige color and then on a SU Choc. Chip card. Then I took the same beige paper to cut out a 3x3 square. Water colored 2 leaves, cut them out and ran them through the Xyron. Added them to the square. Cut out my saying I had stamped in the shape of a circle. Added some punched leaves and I was done. That was so easy. Now why didn't I do that first?? The second card is a Dahlia Fold. I was at a class for butterflies last week and they were going to do these flowers. But Susan the owner of the Stamping Studio used Waxy Flax instead of the Flourishes everyone has been using for the stems. I really liked it and bought some. It's the first one I've made I have been happy with. The flower uses SU double sided paper and Purely Pomegranate Card stock. Well now hopefully I will be back to normal next week.

a few moments to stamp finally

I haven't had time in 2 weeks to do any private stamping. Didn't even have time to do any of my sketch challenges. I was determined to get this one done from Poeticartistry.blogpot.com The Mojo Monday Morning sketch challenge. It looked Oriental to me and all week I have tried to complete a card hunting out paper and stamps and cutting the card stock. Finally today the last day of the week I have it done. I also added butterflies I learned to make at a class a week ago. Stamps are from I Brake for Stamps.

The Altered CD now note pad holder

Well for those who think I pick a theme for a swap that I'm hostessing because I know what I'm doing or I have the stamps that fit the theme **YOU ARE WRONG!!!** I just write things down and then sit there like the rest of you wondering what to do. That's why on one of my groups we're doing an Easter swap. What was I thinking?? Oh well we're ready for next Easter LOL. I have never worked with a CD before and had I not received one as a gift I wouldn't have known what to do. However the one I received as a gift was covered with paper. That's not what I had in mind. I wanted to try alcohol inks. Well that went fine but then there was this hole in the middle of the CD. What to do with that. Then I put the holes in the wrong place for the ribbon so had to add another hole. Anyways all in all I think it turned out pretty good. Here's what I did. I sprayed the CD with alcohol. Then dropped several drops of a couple of colors and gold around the CD. Then I pounced. Love these great stamping terms pouncing and smooshing. Don't you? Let that dry and please don't do this at home. Use a drill. I took a nail and a hammer and made my holes. Nail got stuck. Wasn't a pretty sight me struggling with a stuck nail. Anyways I did not measure. I eyed it. Didn't do that to well cause the note pad wouldn't fit. So had to make another hole. Added my ribbon with brads right through the holes. Hung my note pad and then had to figure out what to do for the center. Tried all sorts of things. Hated them all. Then I remembered who I was making it for and my problem was solved. A sea shell. I hope you like it Sue.

Spring break has been enjoyable.

Although I did work 2 days at my second job this week earning money for Stampfest in June I have had great fun stamping and trying more techniques. It's been restful and enjoyable. I'm posting a few of the cards I have made. The first one is the Faux Linen technique. I added the blue Cuttlebugged strip and played with my new Nestabilities to make the ovals. The roses are rolled after you stamp them and cut out. They are called Bloomers and are from Coronado Island Stamps. The second card uses a technique called Aged Tiles. The stamp is from Impression Obsession. This next card I had a little fun with. I made a flower from my scalloped Nestabilities circles. The stem, grass and ladybug are I believe are from Close to my Heart stamps. I may be wrong on that one. I used 2 techniques on this one. The center of the flower is a technique that uses Simple Green cleaner and the side strip is made using a mesh bag. Kind of looks like snake skin don't you think.? The last card is a 3x3 sized card. The flap uses velcro to stay closed. A little faux stitching, a Cuttlebugged piece of recycled elephant poo paper( Yes elephant poo ) a scalloped circle and a SU stamp finish it off. 3 more days to play. I have a number of things I want to work on. Going to alter a CD. Never have done that before. We'll see how that one turns out.

This weeks challenges

The first card is for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge http://poeticartistry.blogspot.com/. I started going through my basket looking for backgrounds and images and when I was all done it had turned into a Fall card. I used 2 of the newest Technique Junkies techniques, Waxy Cuttlebug and Mesh Direct. The Stamp is from Just for Fun. I changed background colors numerous times until I was satisfied with it. Tried lots of different brads and jewels. Ended up with little punched leaves. The second card is for the Techno Stampers Monday Morning sketch challenge. http://technostamper.blogspot.com/. This one also uses the Waxy Cuttlebug technique. The stamp is from SU. My choices for this sketch went together much easier than the other one. I really like the blue.

What a week I've had!!!

This is the first time I've been on the computer in 2 days. Sunday I opened the cupboard under my desk and found things I haven't seen in almost 3 years. Some I didn't even recognize. So I went to cleaning and organizing all over again. Seems like I had just done this. But everything has been moved and new toys have a spot now and I'm ready to start my vacation. I have lots of cards I want to make to send into some magazines and techniques to try. I'm like so excited. Yesterday was my day to work 2 jobs and before and after the second job I started to sort stamps. I've had them in binders by subject but when you send cards into the magazines or to some of the websites they want to know who made the stamps. So I have sorted by company. Not sure I'm going to like this but I'm going to give it a try. What a job that was. I just finished with them. Have a couple left on my desk I need to identify yet. So just a warning to everyone if you don't want to clean don't open anything up you haven't looked at for awhile. It will take over your life!!. Now to catch up with my groups. I wanted to post a picture of our newest baby. Isn't she something. They are called Turkens. They are so adorable right now. We had them when we first moved here. They are so ugly they are cute. My husband went to tractor supply and 12 of these followed him home. All I know is there better not be any roosters. I warned him!! The 2 we have now can't even be in the same part of the yard together and they both hate me. I also think we have a calf being born right now. She's way out at the other end of the pasture laying down. My husband will have to go and look on her when he gets home. He's the only one the bull will allow in the pasture so I can't go and look. I will let you know and post a picture of either Cowlvin or Cowlene.

2 GREAT Sketch challenges

The first picture is my Techno Stamper card for the week it uses a new technique from Technique Junkies called Glimmering Waves. The 3 little shells are from I Brake for Stamps. I like this layout and will be using it again.. Have lots of stamping in my future as next week is Spring Break for us so lots and lots of cards will be made. The second card is from a Blog I just found called Poetic artistry and she has a Mojo Monday sketch each week. http://poeticartistry.blogspot.com . I love this sketch and knew right away I needed to give it a try. What a coincidence it uses the Nestabilities scalloped circle which I just have punched out a gazillion of. The stamp is from SU and I used the colors of the patterned paper to make the card. Not my usual colors. I never would have used them together but I like it.
