Time for another Mojo Monday sketch

Monday came and was almost gone before I realized it was Monday and I hadn't gotten my email with the MOJO sketch. So before I hopped into bed I went to the website and found it. This morning I started the card before I went to work and I am so glad I didn't finish it. I thought about it all day and really like the results. I used this really pretty paper I got at the Stamping Studio. It was already edged in brown. Cut it apart and sprayed a piece with webbing. Added some sticky yarn trim and 2 Nestabilities squares I edged in brown. My image which was first going to be my large square is from I Brake for Stamps. I cut it out and attached it so part was where the bow is in the sketch.

Relaxin and a stampin

I had a medical scare the last day of my vacation I have not talked about. Kind of ruined my creating. Yesterday I went to the gyno and I'm sure the test is going to come back perfectly fine. I'm planning to change our family doctor as she should have known what I was told yesterday. So we await the results but I am not worried. We'll know for sure in 2 weeks. But anyways I came home and sat down at my desk and for the first time in weeks cards were being put together. I pulled out my basket, grabbed a handful of paper and images and away I went. So relaxing!!! I only wish I had today off to so I could continue but when I get home today after I cover everything up for the cold snap coming I will be right back at my desk. Here are a few of what I did. This was folded for a Flap Fold card but I decides to leave the flap off and add the lacey look on the back of the card. A Martha Stewart Puunch. The dragonfly is stencil/paste. Oh and the background is, what a surprise, my favorite webbing.

Then I had this napkin already waxed. Such a pretty tulip. More of the lace on the back of the card and a Cuttlebug background.

This card uses a water technique I like, a cuttlebugged sand dollar and the image is from Stampendous. The first time I have ever used it.

This last one uses a Cuttlebugged background with a shimmer sheetz ( no longer available anywhere ) A stencil/paste snowman and a Cuttlebug snowflake. I just bought this die and folder. I think there are going to be some discontinued items soon so if you were wanting a folder or a die you better get it now. I heard 10 new folders were being introduce at CHA. Along with the 16 + Nestabilities being introduced they are trying to enable us big time.

And now I'm off to work. Create something today and have fun.

Mojo Monday and a yard full of pigs

Here's the new Mojo Monday sketch challenge and my card. The images are from a swap. I used some sparkly paper I picked up at a scrap book store some where, a little bit of my webbing paper and that dark circle of would you believe a coffee filter. That is a fun technique and the paper is always vibrant. We had a bit of excitement this evening. I looked out the window to see my pasture full of wild pigs. Big ones and lots and lots of little ones. There had to be about 30. Maybe more. They took turns running from the back corner of our property to the pond to get a drink. All the ponds are drying up around here because of lack of rain. We still have a small amount of water so they will probably be back to visit again.

Some Nestabilities fun

I gave a demo last Saturday at The Stamping Studio in Spring Hill on using the Cuttlebug and Nestabilities. Well as you all know things don't always go as they should. My Ovals were all mixed up ( can't imagine how that happened ) and I kept putting the dies in the wrong direction. Go figure. Thank goodness for the lady sitting next to me that could see what I was doing. So since you are starting a Spellbinders club I thought maybe I could contribute to your fun. Hopefully this tutorial will help you see what I was trying to show you. First off here is a tip. If your Nesties are mixed up as mine were there is a very easy way to figure out what belongs in what set. Lay the 2 biggest dies down and then keep adding dies to the middle.

If you put a wrong die in the group it will not lay separately from the other dies but lay on top of the one under it.

OK so I'm going to use the largest dies from the sm. and the lg. classic rectangles sets. Lay the smallest of the 2 in the center of the larger one ridge side up on both.

Take your piece of card stock cut to card size and score it down the middle. This will help you place the dies in the center.

Using removable tape attach the dies still connected to each other, ridge side down to what will be the front of your card.

Turn your card over and lay on the Cuttlebug in this order A Plate-B Plate- and the die taped to the card stock.

Now to finish your sandwich place the rubber mat on top of where your die is. Then 3 pieces of card stock and the other B Plate.

Run it through the Cuttlebug and here is what you get.

Now you can also use the other side of the dies (The smooth sides ) and follow the directions as before and this is what you get.

I chalked just the center of the frame using a cotton ball.

Here is a card using the raised edges against the card stock. I just added a small sentiment at the bottom and cut the flower out to attach to the center.

And here is a card using the smooth edges against the card stock. I think I like this way better. I added a square with a stencil/paste dragonfly.

2 very simple cards but the raised areas the Nestabilities makes adds so much to the card. I hope this helped to answer some of your questions. If you would like me to post a tutorial about anything else I showed you please let me know. I would be happy to do so and if you need any help with your Club projects I would love to help out even though I would not be able to attend our meetings.

Mojo Monday Sketch #69

It's time for another sketch. My goal this year is to complete this sketch challenge every Monday. This sketch is interesting. I looked through my basket but needed to gather a few things to complete this card. I really try to stick to what is in this basket so I'm not mind boggled with everything I have while enjoying my play time.
Here's the sketch

and here's my card

the stamp is from I Brake for Stamps. I just gave a demo on using Nestabilties Saturday. So I am going to be doing a tutorial on one of the techniques I was trying to show them. A closer look for them of what I was trying to demo. So watch for that.

Last day of vacation. How sad!!

My last day to just do whatever I feel like. Relax and play. School is back in session tomorrow. Back to school for Robin and back to work for me. So today I decided to try something I have been putting off. I follow a blog by Michelle Zindorf "the Queen of the brayer". Do not know how she does it. My brayer doesn't work that way but I gave it shot. Not bad for the first time and I now will try a few other of her designs real soon.

Now I'm off to try a few new techniques. I'll let you see what I make later. BYE!

I've got my MOJO back

Last year I took part in several blog sketch challenges. I loved doing them and then I just stopped making time for them. I know I was very tired at the end of the year 08 and had many days of not wanting to do anything. But I have had this wonderful vacation and feel awesome. Maybe you would like to play along too. She is offering lots of prizes for those that take the challenge. Try it out. Here's the sketch:

I had this webbed background paper on my desk and yes I know Christmas is over but I just got these Spellbinders ornaments die and wanted to play a bit with them. I also used the new Labels1 and the oval Nestabilities.

I then took the same background mixed it with another and my Hanna Stamps Florida Moose. Now he's not called Florida Moose but he's on the beach here if you ask me. The little baubles are from The Robins Nest. I got them from www.ucutathome.com.

Shadow stamping and making a shadow stamp

I meant this to go out yesterday but somehow I fell asleep, missed the movie I was going to watch and ended up in bed. Never quite understand what happens to me after 9:00pm. Any how I thought I would spend yesterday doing some shadow stamping. I had made one stamp with Fun Foam a few years ago and decided to show you how but I had no more Fun Foam. Then I thought of Rangers Cut & Dry. Works great and doesn't need mounted because it is so thick. I mounted my Fun Foam stamp on EZ Mount. Decide what size of stamp you want and cut out 2 pieces the same size. One will be your base. The other cut into squares, trim down a bit and don't worry about be even. Shadow stamps don't have to be perfect.

Glue them on your base and mount if needed. With the Cut & Dry I used the shiney surface for stamping.

Here is also the one I made with Fun Foam.

Now for Shadow Stamping you need light colored ink. Rangers Sea Shells/Lights work great for this.

Decide where on the card stock you want your shadows. Stamp your images over it. Color them in with markers or inks. You could even stamp on every square if you wanted. Here are a couple I made.
