I found my mojo/ sketch that is

Wow it has been a long time since I participated in this Monday sketch. It's a great sketch and I started this one differently. I had a background on my desk and I started there. Matched it up with some card stock. Cut out all the pieces. Had it all put together and was ready to add the image but what image. Nothing spoke to me at all. After work today I opened a stamp drawer looking again and there was my Celebrate stamp from Rubber Stampede. Added a Spellbinder Flourish and it's finished and ready to mail out to someone with an August birthday.

2 great challenges

I have been following link after link after link looking for some inspiration. Been up since 4 AM so got in lots of reading before church. Came across 2 blogs with challenges and since one was a color challenge and one was a sketch challenge I decided to use both ideas on one card. The COLOR Challenge you will find at The Play Date Cafe
We were to use this picture and colors for our inspiration. Not my usual colors so this was a big challenge.

Next came the SKETCH challenge found at Pals Paper Arts.

And here is my card

This was fun and I intend to keep up with these challenge blogs every week. It's always helpful to be told what colors to get out or given a theme to work with or even given the layout when the mind just can't figure out what to do.

Design Team Call

I saw this on another blog and decided to get involved. You might like to try too.

DESIGN TEAM CALL
Do you want to be involved in an exciting new challenge blog?
Do you love rubber/clear stamping?
Do you like to get inky?

If the answer is yes, what are you waiting for, why not apply for a Design Team Position.

The call is open from today, 19th July 2010 through to 8th August 2010. You can read about it here.

I'm going to try out. Why don't you. You don't need to own special stamps. This is strickly for fun. You just need to take part in 1 Challenge a month for a term of 3 months if you are picked. Read the direction and enter 3 cards to show your work. These are my entries:

It's Stamping B's Callenge Thursday

This week we were to use a background stamp instead of Designer Paper or our Cuttlebugs. You can read about it here. I pulled out a stamp I must have bought a year ago from I Brake for Stamps. A brick wall background stamp. It has never been used and gave me a real hard time but I ended up with 2 cards I was pleased with. The first one is sort of a spotlight type design. I was determined to make a flowery vine thingy growing up the brick wall but everything I tried was not to my liking. The Spotlight finally did it for me. The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch that I painted with Tim Holtz Crackle Paint.

The second one uses 2 background stamps. The brick and a crackle background and a few more I Brake for Stamps to form a collage. The bricks were sponged with Distressed Red Brick and a sponge applicator.

As promised here are a few of the cards I have been working on. All images were received in image swaps. The first one I really like but I'm partial to flowers. I colored it with Gamsol and pencils. Used a Martha Stewart Punch around a Page punch and some Dimensional Pearls in the center of the rose. Weaved some blue ribbon and added a rolled rose.

This little sheep is so cute. The background is just sponged with several distressed inks and then stamped. More rolled roses and Dimensional Pearls. Colored with Gamsol and pencil.

The last one I have had for some time. Kind of wish I owned her. She's perfect for being here in Florida and sending up north in Jan. or Feb. with the sentiment "Wish you were here". The background is a Salted piece. Spellbinder sea shells in the corner and Glossy Accents to the sun glasses finished it up. She is also colored with pencil and Gamsol.

I still have a few more on my desk to put together. I have been working on them during commercials and while I am making supper. January I will be going through a major change at work but the good news is I will be home before 1 every day. Lots more time to do what I enjoy. Right now we're waiting for the arrival of our next set of piglets. The nursery in the barn has been cleaned and readied for them and the husband is busy putting electric out there finally. I've wanted the electric for 5 years. Better late than never I guess. No more electric cords strung all over the yard.

Another challenge

I sat down last evening with the piece of card stock I had embossed with the Spellbinders Sea Shell Impressibilities. I tried several images with it and nothing clicked for me so I looked for a sentiment. I really wanted a long one to run along side of the sea shells but just didn't have what I thought I needed. Turned the card around. Backed it with a background I found in my basket, added this Sentiment from I Brake for Stamps, some real sea shells and Wa La! Now to tackle the insides. It turned into another sample for this weeks Stamping B's Challenge.

This image from I Brake for Stamps has been on my desk. Put away. Back on my desk many times. Last night I was determined to use it and once I started coloring I couldn't stop until it was finished. I already know what I would do the next time so the sand and sky are smoother looking. I used Gamsol and pencils to color but will do some sponging also the next time. The background is sponged and then stamped with the leaf flourish. You can't see it but I also stamped the I Brake for Stamps crackle background in pink. Added a Spellbinders sea shell and sand dollar.

A Challenge

I just found this blog the other day. Don't remember how. I'm sure it was a link to a link. So glad I found it. They are a group of ladies called the Stamping B's design team. This is their mission statement:
We stamp for the utter enjoyment of stamping. Rules be damned! We will enjoy each other's creations by commenting on them, praising them, and NEVER having a negative impact on another person's stamping in any way!
I love this. They are just a group that challenges each other to make a card. This weeks challenge can be found here:
http://stampinbsdesignteam.blogspot.com/2010/07/challenge-67-july-15-july-22-2010.html
You are to make a card where the Sentiment is the focal point. I've decided to play along and every Thursday they offer a new challenge. I will be a permanent player here.
Here's my card.

The sentiment is from I Brake for Stamps. The background is a resist technique. The rose is from Spellbinders. A Shapeabilities. And the punch is a Martha Stewart.

Well I loaded up my desk with pieces parts and images I have received from other stampers. Have several cards in different stages of completion. I will be showing them to you in a couple of days as I finish with them. Sometimes it is fun to work with something you don't own. The trouble is if you really like it then you have to have it. I'm really liking these Martha Stewart Punch around the Page punches I bought although I wish they weren't limited to certain sizes. But you can make them work for your card fronts. I also just received my Sea Shell Impressibilities and I'm really liking this one. I have a card started with this also. Can hardly wait to see how it turns out.
