Christmas Foliage

The CHNC challenge this week is to use foliage. I used one of the new Tim Holtz embossing folder diffusers and embossed with the Cuttlebug ornament folder. It left an unembossed place to stamp my sentiment. Sponged gold and bronze metallic inks on the raised design and added my favorite Christmas foliage.

Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge 109-- Heat emboss the main image.

This weeks challenge uses heat embossing. We are to emboss the main image. I embossed the butterfly on glossy card stock and then sponged over the whole thing with red and orange. Then I used Stickles Crystal to hilight the butterflies wings. I hope you go over and join the challenge. You could win a free set of stamps from MFP a HC.

Feeling Sketchy 8

I decided to do a paperless layer version of the sketch. The whole front design is sponged.

Todays play time

I received my monthly care package from MFP a HC this afternoon and the Splitcoast Stampers CAS171 was absolutely perfect for one of the sets. It's a mini version of the set just released Get Reel and a 3 other Silhouette sets released in March and April. CAS171 was a sketch to follow.

This card shows the same fishing stamps from Get Reel in 2 different sizes. They are so cool.  You can see the other stamps in the set here.

This is another set just released. It's called Pansy Riot and matches the other Pansy sets at MFP a HC. The single Pansy is from one of these sets.

I can't show you the other sets I received today but you are going to love them. Be watching for the sneak peaks starting June 12th.

A Blue Christmas

This week I am finished fast with the Crafty Hazelnut Christmas challenge. I have been admiring these cards I've seen lately made with this design so I decided to use it today. I think it makes a great looking card. I've made it in 2 different directions and 2 different shades of blue for the card base and layer. Stamps by MFP a HC.

Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge 108--Fathers Day

This weeks challenge is getting a head start on making Fathers Day cards. I'm still in scene mode. Love making scenes. Images from Get Reel and Scenic Selections MFP a HC.

This is a great stamp set for finishing off your scenes. It's called Scenic Selections. You get 3 different sizes of each stamp. I used all 3 leaves on my background and colored them with pencils. The little scene was made with the smallest of each of these stamps. There are several more stamps I did not use on this card. I added a Fall sentiment from the Autumn Days Mini set. The ribbon as well as the leaves charm are from MFP a HC and I colored the charm with Copics.

Feeling Sketchy #7

Here is my take on this weeks Feeling Sketchy sketch. I have used a Technique Junkie Technique called Ghostly Spatters. It uses a product call Goosebumps. I picked up a bottle of this at Stampfest and had no idea what it was and set it back down. So when I found this technique and one other one I had to search until I found it for sale online. Had to know what it did. Being someone who likes to smoosh and spray inks this is a technique with my name all over it. I glittered my flamingos and the border stamp with Stickles. They are from the MFP a HC set called Flamingo Vacation just released this week. Don't you love the rainbow ribbon.

Lois Vicky Anne Pat G. you are here. Karen H. Patty P. Mary Marilynn Pam Debbie Nancy Bonnie Kathy Brenda Toni Tangii Anna S Sue Kelli Janine Mark's Finest Papers I love this stamp set. I could color these daisies for hours. I used the leaf/ladybug stamp to make my Faux DP background. Stippled yellow in between each one. Then stamped the Happy Birthday. I layered the single daisy image and attached to the front. All colored with Copics.
My second card uses the triple daisy image. I have colored it with chalks. The background I made a long time ago. Found it in my stash. It is a resist technique. Matched my colors perfectly.

Winter scene

This card is for the Crafty Hazelnut Christmas challenge. The challenge is to use mostly red & green.  The trees are from the MFP a HC new set Scenic Selections and the moose is from Christmas in the Country.

Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge 107--Use Chalk

When I first started stamping I did a lot of chalking. The last couple of years I just haven't gotten it out much. I used a Q tip to color in and around my daisy. This is for the Challenge over at Speedy Fox and Friends Blog Challenge. I cut an oval out of my top layer and used the same size oval to cut out my daisy. It was just a little plain so I looked for something to liven it up. I was just going to add a flourish here and a flourish there but before I knew it I had covered the whole oval. I have never put that much bling on any card I have ever made. The image has a nice soft look to it. The chalks made the coloring so easy.

Im so gullible

Did you know that at Speedy TV there is a swap every other month. You make 4 cards and you receive back 3 cards and a free set of stamps. It's a win win situation. This is part of the set I just received back with my March swap cards. Isn't he cute!! The set is called Gullible. The only requirement is your swap cards must use a Marks Finest Papers a Heinrich Company stamp. So come on over and  join in on the fun and earn free stamps. They are having sign ups right now for the May swap. Cute beachy set is what we will receive back.

I've been in a scenery mood. Here is another small scene using a lighthouse from the Lighthouse set and the bird from the brand new Scenic Selections.

May Sneak Peaks Day 4

This is a set of sassy Flamingos on a vacation.  There are some real cute sayings to go along with them. I embossed this guy with a glittery pink EP and then colored in blank areas with markers. This is a version of the Criss Cross card.

Don't forget to check out the Blog Hop next week to see all the new sets.

Craft a Scene

Thats a name of a Challenge Blog I found a few weeks ago. I've been following but have not done a challenge until today. I had made a few scenes today and decided to make one of them work. It was to include Spring flowers. I've used stamps from a couple of MFP a HC sets. ( Scenic Selections and Wild Horses ).I sponged the inside of a Nestibilites label die while still in the die. Masked the moon and when done sponging stamped my elements. The flowers are from a punch.

May Sneak Peaks Day 3

The butterfly is my Sneak Peak. It is part of the Scenic Selections set. I used a Technique Junkie technique called Colored Microfine. It is an outline sticker/glitter technique. I have had these stickers a very long time. Got them in a PIF if I remember correctly. Never used them. This is a great technique for them. Just filled in behind the glittered oval with some matching circles. Something different for me.

Don't forget to check out the Blog Hop next week to see all the new sets.

Day 2 of May Sneak Peaks

This set is called Get Reel. A great set for masculine cards.

I used a Technique Junkie Technique called  Pulled Pastels for the background. Very easy to do. I've layered it on Black Glossy card stock and then onto a blue card base.  This is also going to be my card for the May swap at Speedy TV which is anything goes.

Don't forget to check out the Blog Hop next week to see all the new sets.

Day one of May Sneak Peaks

This is a cute set called Oopsy Daisy from MFP a HC. It will be available next week during our Blog Hop. I've used Copics to color it. The lady bug is a good luck sign for the Chinese so I used a piece of Washi paper in the background and layered several matching primary color squares and scalloped squares for my layers.

Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge 106--Use 3 of something

Todays challenge is to use 3 of something.  I've used 3 butterflies and 3 pieces of ribbon. Both stamps and ribbon are from Marks Finest Papers a Heinrich Company. Recently I found this great rack at a Flea Market and went about moving my room around and reducing supplies. It has these great baskets on each side which now hold all the things I use the most. No more looking for what I need. With this cleaning and sorting I found things I forgot I had. Thanks to this rack everything is now out in the open and ready to use. One of my findings is this paper I bought about 4 years ago. The green background for my butterflies is called POO paper. Made from elephant Poo. I have it in all colors. Maybe I'll use it more often now.

SSSD Try a new Technique--Spotlight Resist

This technique really gave me a problem. I tried several different times but finally got an image I liked before I got frustrated enough to pull my hair out. :O).  Hopefully you won't have the same experience.

The first thing you need to do is stamp your image with Versa Mark.

Now emboss this with Black Embossing Powder.

                                                         Color it in with markers.

Now use a Versa Marker to fill the areas you colored and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder. Don't have a Versa Marker I'll show you an alternative at the end.

Cover your image with a post it note making sure parts of your image are left showing. I had to cut my post it note down.

Sponge a dark colored ink all over your exposed card stock. No ink will cover what has been embossed.

Remove the square and attach post it notes all around your image right on the line of ink made in step before.

Sponge the lighter color around the edge of the post it notes. You want to leave the very center uninked.

Now if you want you can stamp something around the edges with the lighter ink.

Remove your post it notes and now you can cut the piece down to the size you want to work with.  I was not happy with this. I know I'm not happy with the blue ink and I'm not sure the image is what I wanted for this either.

So I continued to play around until I came up with something I like. Here is my card for the swap.

Now if you don't have a Versa Marker you can use a Silhouette stamped image embossed with black.

SSSD-May- A Different kind of card--TeePee card

Here we go guys. I think you'll like this one. I followed directions for one and the card is too huge for my liking so I am cutting back on the ones you will be making. Let's get started. We are going to start with 3- 5" squares of card stock all the same color. Score each one from corner to corner.

                                                                      Fold on score

Put adhesive from one corner to the center on 2.

Now watch my photos carefully for placement. Lay #1 on top of #2.

Now add #3. Look at the photo does yours look like this.

Now we are going to add designer paper.  You will nee 2- 5 5/8" squares. Now cut those in half going from corner to corner.  Attach 3 of the pieces on the card base as in the photo.

Now when you pick up the 2 loose ends you have 1 with paper on it and 1 is plain.  Take the one with paper and place it on top of the plain panel.

Holding this together you need to use a Crop o dile if you have one or a good paper punch to make a whole through all layers.

This is how that should look.

Put a length of ribbon through the hole and tie in a bow.

                                                                    Decorate--here's mine

To mail you need to untie the bow and lay it flat like this. You are going to need a 6x9 size envelope to mail to your partner.  Have fun.
