Speedy Fox and Friends 118

This week we are making Birthday cards for the kiddies. I don't ever make this kind of card so this is a first for me. I used a brand new stamp set to make my card. Go on over and add your card for a chance to win a  stamp set. I used a different paper today. I have had it since I joined MFP and received my first DT package but thought it was a water color paper. When I tried to water color with inks it just pilled up so I wasn't sure what it was. I finally realized it was called pencil paper and I have to say it works wonderfully both with the Prisma and Gamsol and with my water color pencils and my water brush just slightly wet. It just spreads and has a great look. It will be my go to paper for pencils. The Frog, Butterfly and sentiment have all been popped up and I added an extra mushroom to the image which I popped up.

PRIZE: any 3 items from the Squigglefly store

Here is my card. I'm not into sports and I don't really have a hobby but when I want to relax I sit at my desk and create. I love trying techniques and making the backgrounds for my cards. Stamping is a sure cure for a stressful day. This card came about because I was looking for a background in my stash for another card. I had all these scraps left over and decided to piece them together and see what happens. Quick to make and I liked how it turned out. My next problem was for a sentiment. Well lo and behold I looked down on my desk at this new MFP a HC stamp set and there was the sentiment. Just about as perfect as could be because I do love my flowers too. The weeds sometimes win out but I do enjoy the butterflies and hummingbirds that visit in my garden.

Back from vacation and playing catch up

Here are 2 challenges I put together this morning. The first one is for Feeling Sketchy 16. I bought the sparkly paper on our trip. The lighter paper has a white glossy glitter embossed design. I sponged over it with green. The snowman is paste embossed. Sentiment from MFP a HC.

This next card is for the Monday challenge for Friends of Speedy TV. It was a sketch challenge. I used some more of that sparkly paper and sponged with red & green. Sentiment from MFP a HC.
Now for some trip photos. This my granddaughter, D in L, Me, Daughter, Son, D in L and Grandson. We were at the Cleveland Zoo.

Here is my Great grand daughter, Grandaughter, my 2 Daughters and myself.

I'm on a camel with Great Grand Daughter and Grand Son.

Here we are at my Daughters wedding. This is my Dad, Mom, Brother, Sister who is adopting the little girl from China. She leaves Aug. 1st to bring her Angel Emma Grace home. That's me next and my other 2 Sisters.

The beautiful Bride my oldest Daughter and her wonderful new Husband.
We had a wonderful time. There was so much fit into a few days it really doesn't feel like I had a vacation but it was wonderful.

SSSD-July Technique-A new use for saran wrap

This is a quick and easy technique SSSD Ladies. So quick and easy you can make dozens in a matter of minutes. It is however messy so work where you have room. I always do this one in my kitchen. I line up my papers and go until I filled the counter. You need glossy card stock, dye reinkers, water in a spray bottle and saran wrap. Put a couple of drops of several reinkers in a pallet, plastic lid, paper plate or whatever you have that will work. Spray card stock with water

Start by painting on the ink in no special pattern. Use 2-3 colors.

Lay a piece of saran wrap on top and scrunch it up. leave it and move on.

                                           Spray with water

                                                  Paint on your ink

Add some saran wrap and scrunch.

Now comes the hard part. Walk away and don't touch them for 30 minutes.  If you lift up the saran wrap before it has time to dry you will lose the markings.  I have done this technique so many times and I had a hard time with it leaving no marks today. I don't know if it is the humidity or the air conditioner or fans but I had better luck in my work room. In the past I have left the saran wrap on over night and it has been fine but today anything left on over 30 minutes was solid color with no markings. So experiment in your surroundings and don't get upset if it doesn't work the first time. I finally got some to work.

I also tried using Smooch Spray and Glimmer Mists Sprays. I had excellent results. These turned out really good. Do the same thing. Spray with the Smooch or other brand spray and lay your saran wrap on top and scrunch it up. These were after 30 minutes. I've got to say they turned out the best. I think this will be the way I do the technique from now on. You do it either way you want.

Here's my card made with reinkers.

Here's my card made with Gold Smooch Spritz. The sprays seem to make the more defined patterns.  Have fun ladies.

SSSD July Different Kind of Card/Onesie

Last month SSSD ladies we made shirts perfect for dads or little boys. This month we're making onesies. They make a cute card for babies. Decorated they could be for boy or girl. Once you get going you will be able to make these as fast as you can make the shirts. We're going to start with a 4 1/2 x 11 piece of card stock scored at 5 1/2 making a top fold card.

Next take a circle punch and punch a half circle at the fold line This is the neck. I used a SU 1 3/8 " punch.

Take the same punch and using 3/4 of the circle, punch out both bottom corners.

Here is what it will look like.

Trim each leg hole on the sides.

Measure down 1 3/4" from the fold on each side and cut in 1/2". This forms the sleeves.

Using a ruler draw a line from the bottom corner to the end of your 1/2" cut. Trim this away. Can you see it forming!!!

Using the circle punch again punch a circle in a patterned paper you will use for trim.

Take a scalloped punch. I used the SU scalloped punch. It's about 1 3/4 inches across. Position it so the circle you punched out is centered. You will need to do this twice.

This is what you will have.

Glue half of a scalloped circle to each leg opening and to the neck opening trimming off excess.

On your bottom flap score 1/4" from the edge and add your buttons or brads.

Decorate the front of your card anyway you want.
