Speedy Fox and Friends 129

Today the challenge is a little different. We have a photo to give us inspiration to make our cards.

Here is the photo:
It is actually part of a photo that I took at the Salvidor Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, FL. In the courtyard was this huge very intersting artistic design made with tiles.

I was looking through some Technique Junkie Techniques and saw this tiled technique. Thought it would be perfect. I used the same colors in the photo and a flourish bling. Hope you get inspired and play along. There is a great stamp set up for grabs.

One last card for tonight

This one is for a November Build a Sketch swap. I love this Santa. He's just so cute. I've only used half of him and used the small holly stamp to form my wreath around him. See the jingle bells? They are brads. Well tomorrow I'm back to work but have shortened days so hopefull I get a few more cards put together this week.

Tutorial Time at Speedy TV

Go on over to Speedy TV and Hilight Tutorial time. Click on #18. You're going to learn all about Distressing. This is not my thing ladies. I have to admit this. You won't see me ripping my papers or half destroying my image I just took so much time coloring. LOL. But I gave it a go. What you see is actually the back side of my first attempt. Just didn't like it. I was spritzing and swiping and stamping and yuck!! So I turned it over and stamped the image and liked it a lot better. I sponged Distressed inks both Old Paper and Linen on the piece. The background is a Faux Patina technique. A little Distressed Stickles was also used here and there. Wrinkled paper is perfect for this old map image from MFP a HC. Go on over and join in to have a chance to win a great stamp set.

A Twist on Resist

Hello again SSSD ladies. Here is our October technique. You will need solid or nearly solid stamps. 2 small ones and a larger one. I have never done this technique so what I do and how it turns out will be exactly what you see. I can tell you though my choice of stamps wasn't quite right for this technique but I think it turned out ok.

Here is the stamp I am starting out with and it is one that I made with 2 squares of fun foam and a piece of EZ Mount.

Start by using your first stamp and a light colored ink.

Next add a second light color. Mine was actually a little too dark and gave me a few fits later in this technique so stay light. You need to be able to cover this ink up later.  Now **important** let it dry. Walk away for 15 minutes or use a heat gun to heat it.

Swipe the piece with your embossing and then stamp your larger stamp with Versa Mark.

Cover with Clear Embossing Powder. Shake off the excess.

Emboss. Here is where the twist comes in. The color shows through the embossing.

Now brayer or sponge your dk color over the whole thing. I tried 3 or 4 colors before I finally got my beginning squares covered. Wipe off with a paper towel to clean the ink off the embossing.

Now with your other smaller stamp Fill in the spaces with a darker ink. You want to fill it all in making it look like your very own Designer Paper. Wipe off any ink that gets on your embossing.

Here's my card.

Paper - MFP a HC - Aged Marigold Mottled , Premium Snow Storm Smooth
Misc. - Ribbon, Twine and Charm from MFP a HC

Let's make a Gate Fold card

Ok SSSD ladies. Here is our card for the month of October. It is very easy to make. So let's get started.

You will need a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 piece of card stock scored at 2 1/8 & 6 3/8. If you have a scor pal these measurements are marked on the board.

When you fold it this is how it looks.

Take 2 pieces of paper 1 7/8 x 5 3/4. This next step is up to you. I sponged the edges or my paper.

Attach them to the front of the card.

Open up the card and add a piece of cardstock for your sentiment. It can also be decorated if you wish. The piece is 4 x 5 1/4.

Now you need a shape. It can be a square , circle or whatever you want. I chose an oval and backed it with a scalloped oval. Layer your chosen shape.   Color in your image and attach them to each other.

Put adhesive on only 1/2 of the image shape.

Attach it to your card.

Here is the inside of mine.

And here is the outside. Notice I took an acorn and attached it with a pop dot to the front of my card. It is not attached to the image but to the front of the panel. I have it close enough to the image though to help keep the card closed. You could do this with a cut out circle for a sentiment or a flower.
That's all there is to it. Very quick and easy.
