I now remember why I don't use eyelets and I have totally forgotten how to put them in with the Crop O Dile as you can see by the smooshed eyelet holes.  So they are all going back into hiding and I am going to forget about them again. It's a good thing.

I used all the words of the set to make a collage background. Wasn't happy with the black buildings so I added color to them. Cute set just right for that some one who is headed off to the City for a new job or that dream of making it Big.

Bubble wrap fun

This week at Tutorial Time on Speedy TV we are learning a technique using Bubble wrap. I had many issues with this but ended up with a card. First I didn't have any Acrylic paint so.... I grabbed my Ranger paint Dabbers, dried up....OK don't give up. I found 3 bottles of Dimensional Pearls and I had white in Liquid Pearls. Not really matching colors or colors I would have chosen to work with but they were what I had. Painted them on my card stock and waited for that to dry. Then got my brayer. Could not make it work. Bubble wrap too thick, pearls slippery and the biggest factor I HATE BRAYERS!. So I ended up with a smeary mess. Grabbed another piece of Bubble wrap and dabbed it in the mess. Here is my card.

Didn't give up. Tried again this time using a smaller piece of bubble wrap in the brayer. Still slipping and sliding but it rolled a little. Here my card. Go on over and Hilight Tutorial Time and click on #23. Add your card for a chance to win a great stamp set.

Water Distressed

Ok ladies here is our last technique for the year. I have a whole list ready to go after the Holidays. We'll pick back up in January. Today is a Distressing technique. Here is what you need. Spray bottle with water, 3 dye ink pads** Distressed pads if you have them , card stock and a work surface** either wax paper or a non stick Teflon mat and a heat tool.

On your work surface swipe your pads across without touching the other colors.

Spray with water. Your inks will bead up.

Lay your card stock on top and preass down. Lift it up and dry with the heat tool on the front side and the back side. The paper will curl up and flatten out. Repeat this step untill you get the look you want.

I repeated it 3 times adding more ink and water to my work surface. This is what I ended up with. When it was totally dry I ironed it to completely flatten it out.

Now you can use this as your background or you can stamp right onto it. I stamped right on it and colored my owl/pumpkin image with pencils.  The leaves are all stamped, colored, cut out and attached with glue dots.

Making a scene easy

Hi ladies of SSSD. This month we are making scenes. I love doing scenes and I try to keep it very simple.  This is a copy of a tutorial I did for Speedy TV so some of you may have seen this.  I will be showing you 2 different skies. My preferred inks are the Memento and Distressed and a nice smooth card stock. So lets get started. These are the colors I used.

Start out sponging your whole piece of card stock with the lightest blue

Next taken a scrap piece of paper, decide where you want the horizon line. We’re going to make water for the first sample.

First sponge the whole section with the medium blue and then with the darker blue, keeping the darker blue closer to the edges. Remove you scrap paper.

Make some clouds with a cloud stencil or a scalloped circle using the lightest blue and sponging lightly away from the scallops

Tear a little hill out of a piece of scrap paper. Lay it on top of the corner and sponge with the dark brown right over the blue.

Add a little black on the edges

Here’s what we have done so far.

                                      Add your images.

Take a white pen and add detail to the water.

                                            Here's my card.

Now let me show you a different color scheme.

We are going to make an orange sunset. This is also going to be a mini scene but can be made as large as you like. I started out by cutting an oval with a Spellbinder oval. I am leaving my cardstock in the die. Decide where your horizon line is and lay a piece of scrap paper over the bottom half. Sponge with the lightest  yellow.

Attach a small circle for your moon with removable tape. Sponge with the darker
yellow.

Then sponge with the orange on the edges.

Remove your moon and the scrap paper. This is what you have.

Take your scrap paper and cover up the sky. Sponge the lightest green over the bottom part.

Now sponge with the Medium green but do not cover up all of the lightest green.

Sponge along the paper line with a light brown

Sponge with the darkest green along the Spellbinder die.

Remove the die. You are left with a nice white border.

Sponge the moon lightly with the light yellow and just a touch of the darker yellow. Stamp your images.

                                                           Here is my card.
